AYER, Mass. - Following a brief tenure in an interim capacity, Steven Roach has been named Chief Executive Officer of Nashoba Valley Medical Center, officials announced today.
"I'm honored to lead Nashoba Valley Medical Center in its mission to provide increasingly advanced opportunities for both patients to receive care and for clinical professionals to practice medicine," Roach says.
"We've served the community for more than 40 years and look forward to guiding this hospital into its next 40 years as a premier provider to the people of Ayer, Groton and the entire Nashoba Valley."
In addition to serving as CEO, Roach's previous roles at Nashoba Valley Medical Center include Chief Operating Officer since November 2005 and Chief Financial Officer since 2003.
W. Hudson Connery, Jr., CEO of Essent Healthcare, says Roach's history with Nashoba Valley Medical Center uniquely positions him to lead the organization during a time of rapid growth.
"Having served at the hospital for more than three years in multiple senior level capacities, Steve immediately adds value and expertise to our operations," says Connery.
"His in-depth knowledge of the hospital is particularly important as we move forward with our plans to build a new, state-of-the-art hospital for the Ayer and Groton communities we serve."
Nashoba Valley Medical Center is pursuing plans to build a new $50 million, 60-bed replacement hospital designed to enhance the convenience, comfort and medical technologies offered to patients. The hospital recently gained overwhelming approval to rezone the land for healthcare development and for a communications district at Ayer's annual zoning meeting.
Prior to joining Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Roach served as Director of Financial Planning & Analysis at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Mass., from 1998-2003 and Financial Analyst for the Partners Healthcare System at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston from 1995-1998.
Roach holds an MBA with Honors from Bentley College and a BS, Magna Cum Laude with Honors, in Health Management and Policy from the University of New Hampshire. He resides in Littleton with his wife and two children.
